    Privacy policy

In effect from 10 September 2026

This site compares prices that shops publish on their own websites. Most of what it does needs nothing from you at all — you can browse, search, compare and save products without an account and without telling us who you are. This page sets out the exceptions, in the order you are likely to meet them.

    On this page

    1. Who we are

PriceHunter BD is operated by Gatishil Ventures, at Ishwardi, Pabna, Rajshahi. Where this policy says “we”, it means that operator. Questions about anything here go to [email protected].

We are not a shop. We do not sell anything, we do not take payments, and we never see your card details, delivery address or order — those exist only between you and the shop you choose to buy from.

    2. What we collect

    If you only browse

No account, no name, no email. Two cookies are set, both of which the site needs in order to work at all:

    • A session cookie, which remembers the products you have put in the comparison tray so the tray survives from one page to the next.
    • A CSRF cookie, which is a security measure: it lets us tell a form you submitted from one somebody else submitted on your behalf.

There is no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie and no tracking pixel on this site. We do not build a profile of what you look at, and we do not sell, rent or share browsing behaviour with anyone.

Our servers keep ordinary web logs — the address of the page requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string, and the IP address the request came from. These are what let us tell a fault from an attack.

    If you sign in

Signing in is only ever needed for one feature: a price alert, which has to have somewhere to send the email. Sign-in is through Google, and we receive from Google exactly three things — your email address, your display name and the URL of your profile picture. We do not receive, and could not ask for, your Google password. We do not keep any Google access token, so we cannot read your mail, your calendar, your contacts or your files, and nothing about this site can act on your Google account.

There is no password on this site, so there is no password to leak.

If you set a price alert

We store the alert itself: which product it watches, the kind of change you asked to hear about, any target price you set, whether it should ignore out-of-stock listings, whether it is limited to one shop, when it expires, and the last price we told you about. That last figure is kept so that one price wobbling around a threshold cannot send you the same email repeatedly.

    3. What stays in your browser

Your saved list never reaches us. The heart on a product card writes to your browser's own storage, on your own device. The server has no copy, no record that you saved anything, and no way to reconstruct the list — which also means it is per-browser and per-device, and that clearing your browser data clears it.

When the list page loads, your browser asks us for the details of the products it is holding, so those product identifiers do appear in our web logs as part of an ordinary page request. They are not stored against you, because there is no “you” for them to be stored against.

    4. Why we hold it

    WhatWhy
Email address To identify your account and to send the price alerts you asked for. Nothing else.
Display name and picture So the header shows who is signed in rather than an anonymous box.
Price alerts To know what to watch, and to avoid emailing you twice about the same movement.
Session and CSRF cookies To keep the comparison tray between pages, and to protect forms from cross-site abuse.
Web logs To diagnose faults, and to detect and slow down abuse of the site.

We do not use any of it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not pass it to data brokers. We will never sell your email address.

    5. Third parties who see it

Running a website means using other people's infrastructure, and being straight about which. These are all of them:

    • Google — handles sign-in. When you press “Sign in”, you are on Google's page and Google's privacy policy governs what happens there.
    • Google Fonts — the site's typefaces are fetched from Google's servers, so loading any page on this site discloses your IP address to Google even if you never sign in. We are working to serve these files ourselves, which will end that disclosure.
    • Cloudflare — sits in front of the site, filtering attacks and caching pages, and also stores our product images. Requests reach us through it, so it sees the IP address of every visitor.
    • cdnjs — serves the charting library used to draw price history on a product page, and therefore sees a request from your browser when you open one.
    • Our email provider — receives your email address in order to deliver a price alert to it.
    • Our hosting provider — operates the machine the site runs on and stores its database.

We will also disclose information if we are required to by a valid legal order, and to protect the rights or safety of others where the law allows it.

When you follow a link from here to a shop, you leave this site. The link tells the shop that you arrived from PriceHunter BD — that is how a comparison site demonstrates that it sends real customers — but it carries nothing about who you are, because we have nothing to send. What happens once you are on the shop's site is governed by the shop's own privacy policy, not by this one.

    6. Where it is kept, and for how long

Our servers are in Singapore, so information about you is processed outside Bangladesh. Traffic between your browser and the site is encrypted in transit.

    • Your account and alerts are kept for as long as the account exists. Delete the account and they go with it.
    • Sessions expire on their own, and signing out ends one immediately.
    • Web logs are kept only as long as they are useful for diagnosing faults and abuse, and are then discarded.

    7. Your choices

    • Stop an alert — every alert email carries a one-click unsubscribe link that works without signing in, and you can turn any alert off from your alerts page.
    • See what we hold — your alerts page shows every alert on your account, and the only other thing we hold is the email address, name and picture Google gave us.
    • Delete your account — write to [email protected] from the address on the account and we will delete it, with every alert attached to it. We are building a button for this; until it exists, the email address is not a delaying tactic and we will act on it.
    • Use the site without an account — browsing, searching, comparing and saving all work signed out, and saving works entirely inside your own browser.
    • Refuse the cookies — you can block them in your browser. The site will still show you prices; the comparison tray will stop remembering what is in it.

Bangladesh does not yet have a general data protection statute in force. We have written this policy to the standard we would want applied to us rather than to the minimum the law currently requires, and if a statute does come into force we will meet it.

    8. Children

This site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly create an account for anyone under 13, and if we learn that we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child has given us their email address, write to us and we will remove it.

    9. Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what we do with information we already hold — a new recipient, a new purpose — we will say so on the site before it takes effect, and email account holders where the change concerns them. We will not quietly start using your email address for something you did not agree to.

    10. Contact

Write to [email protected], or to Gatishil Ventures, Ishwardi, Pabna, Rajshahi. If you think we have got something here wrong, we would rather hear it than not.

See also the terms of service, which cover what the prices on this site do and do not promise.
